Ugo Ugochukwu Grabs Historic First F3 Win.

In a landmark moment for his career, Ugo Ugochukwu secured his first-ever FIA Formula 3 victory during the season-opening Feature Race at Albert Park, Melbourne, on Sunday, March 8, 2026. The 18-year-old Campos Racing driver, who is the son of Nigerian supermodel Oluchi Onweagba and Italian fashion designer Luca Orlandi, now sits at the top of the Drivers’ Championship standings.

Starting from second on the grid, Ugochukwu initially slipped to third at the opening corner but showed remarkable composure to fight back. By the second lap, he executed a decisive move at Turn 9 to reclaim second place from Freddie Slater and quickly repeated the maneuver on his teammate, polesitter Théophile Naël, to seize the lead.

Key Race Highlights:

  • Total Control: Once in front, Ugochukwu dominated the field, building a massive seven-second lead at one point during the 23-lap contest.
  • Safety Car Finish: The race concluded behind a Safety Car following a late incident involving Woohyun Shin. Despite the field bunching up, Ugochukwu’s position was never in doubt.
  • The Podium: Britain’s Freddie Slater (Trident) finished second, while Japanese rookie Taito Kato (ART Grand Prix) inherited third place after Naël received a five-second penalty for a false start.
