Uzodimma Suffers Major Setback as Court Rules in Okorocha’s Favour

A major political twist has emerged in Imo State after a Federal High Court in Abuja reportedly ordered Governor Hope Uzodimma to stop presenting himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election.

The court ruled that Uzodimma did not win the APC senatorial primary conducted on May 18, 2026. Instead, the judge declared former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha the winner, directing the party to submit his name as its candidate for the January 2027 election.

The decision is a significant development in the political battle over the Imo West ticket, especially considering Uzodimma’s position as the sitting governor.

For Okorocha, the ruling represents a major boost in his attempt to return to the National Assembly. For the APC, however, the judgment could create another round of political calculations ahead of the elections.

The big question now is whether the ruling will settle the dispute or trigger another legal battle. With the 2027 elections approaching, the Imo West contest is already shaping up to be one of the political battles to watch.
