Warri Delineation Row: Lawyer Urges Tinubu to Order Independent Investigation

A fresh controversy surrounding the Warri delineation exercise has drawn attention after lawyer and politician Chief Robinson Ariyo called on President Bola Tinubu to order an investigation into allegations linked to the process.

Ariyo has raised concerns about claims of financial inducement, possible security compromises and irregularities, urging the Federal Government to ensure that the matter is examined independently.

He also called for INEC to publish its full delineation report, including the maps, methodology, population data and reasons behind its decisions.

The lawyer further urged relevant agencies, including the EFCC and ICPC, to investigate any credible evidence of financial misconduct connected to the controversy.

Importantly, these are allegations and calls for investigation, not established findings of wrongdoing.

The issue is sensitive because electoral representation in Warri involves communities with longstanding political and communal interests.

Ariyo warned that poor handling of the dispute could deepen mistrust and create unnecessary tension among affected communities.

The controversy has once again highlighted the importance of transparency in electoral boundary exercises.

For residents and political stakeholders, the expectation is that the process should be fair, lawful and properly explained to everyone affected.
