Speaking in a recent candid interview with media personality JayOnAir, the talented screen star revealed that casting directors and producers frequently boxed her into narrow, highly sexualized character types based entirely on her physical appearance rather than her acting range.
She explained that during a period when lighter-skinned actors heavily dominated Nigerian screens, her dark skin tone and curvy figure became a pretext for limitations. Ogunmola recounted how the industry repeatedly tried to restrict her to “side chick” and supporting roles, stating:
“It was almost like they wanted to put me in a box. I am dark-skinned. There was a time when light-skinned people were reigning, and they told me I was very curvy and tried to limit me to ‘side chick’ roles. That went on for a while, and I didn’t like it.”
