Popular actor and politician Yul Edochie has finally responded to allegations linking him to Ason Rich, a movie producer who was reportedly gunned down by police during a kidnapping duel in Lagos.
The Lagos State Police Command announced last week that nine alleged kidnappers who “targeted high net-worth residents” in the state had been killed.

The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that a gunfight resulted in the suspects’ deaths.
Following Ason Rich’s death, who was named a kidnap suspect, a picture of the movie producer and Yul trended online as the duo were portrayed as bosom friends.
The picture of him and Yul that went viral and was widely shared alongside stories of the deceased director showed them as best friends, adding a strong element of scandal to the story as it was developing.
In a new video he shared, Yul slammed detractors trying to manipulate the innocent picture he took with the late Ason Rich. Yul Edochie dragged blogs for claiming he was friends with the deceased. Yul criticized how this photo was edited by the media to create false news.
The actor debunked their friendship, clarifying they had only met at a movie location where the picture was taken. Yul expressed disappointment at those trying to tarnish his image, as he vowed to take legal action.
In a similar news, Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has clarified some things about Ason Rich and who should be considered a movie industry practitioner and producer.
The veteran movie star shared his thoughts about the recent kidnapping heist foiled by men of the Nigerian police at Ladipo market, Lagos state. He noted that the man identified as the leader of the kidnapping gang, Ason Rich, shouldn’t be called a Nollywood movie producer.
KOK, who called himself one of the protectors of Nollywood, noted that Ason Rich had barely produced up to five movies and had never acted in one before, and on such grounds, he doesn’t qualify to be referred to as a film producer.
