The leadership of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) has issued a stern, uncompromising warning to its state chairmen and executive officers across the country, mandating an immediate halt to any form of monetary extortion targeting political support groups.
In a strongly worded national circular issued from its secretariat, the coalition clarified that the registration, accreditation, and onboarding process for all support groups wishing to align with the movement is completely 100% free of charge. The intervention follows alarming field reports alleging that certain state and local government chapter executives were illegally demanding mandatory “processing fees,” “consultation payments,” and “administrative levies” from grassroots political groups attempting to register.
The NDC leadership roundly condemned these unauthorized collection schemes as shameful cash-grabs designed to frustrate grassroot mobilization and tarnish the coalition’s foundational integrity. The circular explicitly ordered all state chapters to immediately refund any illegally collected funds to the affected organizations or face severe disciplinary actions, including instant suspension and formal referral to law enforcement agencies for corrupt enrichment.
Reaffirming its commitment to open, inclusive political participation, the NDC urged all civil society groups, youth movements, and political support organizations across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to report any state executive attempting to demand money for registration. With political alignments heating up, the coalition insists its primary focus remains building an organic, uncompromised grassroots movement rather than turning group registration into a commercial enterprise.
