Abubakar Kyari Now APC National Chairman

The Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abubakar Kyari, has taken over as the party’s acting National Chairman.

Kyari’s emergence follows the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Iyiola Omisore as the party’s acting National Chairman and National Secretary respectively.

The chairman was appointed after the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja on Monday which was presided over by Kyari. Adamu was absent from the NWC meeting on Monday while Omisore stormed out of the meeting held at the party secretariat in Abuja.

Briefing reporters after the NWC meeting, Kyari formally announced Adamu’s resignation

Kyari added that Festus Fuanter, the APC’s deputy national secretary, will operate as the party’s national secretary in accordance with the party’s charter.

Abdullahi Adamu was reported to have resigned from his position on Sunday night. “I won’t talk about the issue because the president is away,”  Adamu was quoted as saying.

However, it was gathered that Adamu submitted his letter of resignation to Femi Gbajabiamila, the chief of staff to the president.

It would be recalled that on March 2022, Adamu emerged as APC national chairman of the ruling party.
