Aderinokun Says 2 Million Too Little for Senators Holiday Allowance

The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Ogun Central Senatorial District, David Aderinokun has reacted over the N2 million holiday allowance for a senator, stating that it is too small.

Aderinokun stated this on his verified X handle on Tuesday. He said, “The 2m that was given to senators isn’t a big deal. It is even too small for a senator. What can a family man do with 2m Naira($2k). Why are we making it a big deal?

“But they shouldn’t have made it public. Making it public is a bit insensitive to the plight of Nigerians,” he added.

In the video that went viral on Wednesday, August 9, Akpabio was speaking the words just before a motion to adjourn the Senate’s ministerial screening was made.

He said, “In order to enable all of us to enjoy our holidays, a token has been sent to our various accounts by the clerk of the national assembly.”

Akpabio however withdrew his statement in a moment and said,  “I withdraw that statement.”

“In order to allow you to enjoy your holiday, the Senate President has sent prayers to your mailboxes to assist you to go on a safe journey and return.”

The speaker’s statement has since raised concerns from different people. While some feel it is outrageous, especially as the common citizen is finding a way to meet up ends meet, the likes of Aderinokum feel it is small.
