BREAKING: Actor Junior Pope is Dead from Drowning on a Movie set
It is a black Wednesday for fans, lovers, friends, colleagues, and family of Nollywood actor, Junior Pope Odonwodo.
His passing was announced on Wednesday, April 10, by filmmaker Sam Olatunji.
The actor and three of his colleagues were coming back from a movie location in a boat when they fell into Anam River in Anambra state.
Sam posted a picture of Junior Pope with the caption;
“Four actors including Jnr Pope fell into Anam River on their way to the location and their bodies have been recovered. What a sad day for Nollywood. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Multiple sources confirm this sad development to us.”
Hours ago, the actor shared a video of himself taken yesterday in a boat and praying frantically to arrive at his destination safely.
Captioning the video, he wrote: “See me lamenting….The risk we take to entertain you; crossing river 9ja yesterday with no life jacket…. Na wahooooo Who does that ??”
He was heard saying, “Abeg abeg Na only me dem born o, I get three children na me go raise them”.

Unfortunately, the accident happened on his way back from the location today April 10th.
His body and that of his three other colleagues has since been recovered.
He was 39 years old.
The news has left Nigerians devastated as they flooded social media to mourn him.

The actor is survived by his wife and three children. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.
