“Burna Boy is not up to my standard musically” – Brymo

Nigerian sonic artiste and songwriter, Olawale Ashimi Ọlọfọrọ popularly known as Brymo, has claimed that his colleague, Burna Boy is not up to his standard musically.

He stated this on an episode of Bae U’s Curiosity Made Me Ask show while reacting to Burna Boy’s diss freestyle where he insinuated that Brymo has “fallen off.”

“Is it [the diss freestyle] not Burna Boy lyrics? But he would like to know that nothing in this world would put his name in my song. He no reach my standard,” the singer said.

Not stopping there, Brymo revealed that if leading artistes, Wizkid, Burna Boy or Davido offers him a music deal, he’d turn them down.

The ‘Ara’ crooner, who noted that he is better than every artiste and songwriter on the African continent stated categorically that he would would rather “go to hell” than sign with any of their labels.

Brymo said; “I am the finest vocalist on the continent. I am better than anybody on the continent. I am a better songwriter, I’m the best. I would rather go to hell than sign to Wizkid, Davido or Burna Boy.”

“I’m not proud enough. I’m probably the finest vocalist on the continent. Better than anybody. I’m not thinking. I know this,” he said.

“And yeah, even Twitter guys can’t disagree with him despite the hate. You can win an Award, but that doesn’t mean you’re the best man for that award.”

Last year October, Brymo took to social media and accused Burna Boy of intellectual property theft.

The songwriter alleged that Burna Boy’s song, ‘City Boys’ and album titled ‘I Told Them’ sampled the title track of his upcoming album, ‘Macabre.’ Brymo said what the Grammy wining singer did was a “crime” and he should serve a jail term.

He then made a reference to dancehall star, Blackface recent claim that some top musicians stole his songs. The ‘Ara’ crooner vowed to ensure that they regret their actions.

Brymo wrote; “By end of this year y’all will recollect that ‘Macabre’ wasn’t released when in the public, and as privately as it gets .: ‘city boy’.. and ‘I Told You’ were fed to Burna Boy..

“Former of the track titles I mentioned above is there to point me to the fact that the latter, and his album title is the hook I sing on my album title track ‘Macabre’.. burna na really boy.. and that’s a crime.!!

An actual crime…To do time for… and if una like make una resurrect legends to come complain about stolen songs… una go regret this shit to numerous degrees… shey una no dey hear word !!.”

Burna Boy in response dissed Brymo during a freestyle with his band in October last year after Brymo accused him of song theft.
