“Fortune @fortunateumunname ….. I can’t believe you’re gone. Since we met u never left my side. for one day… Your page says it all,” Davido wrote.

“You really were all about me like nothing else mattered. You went from a complete stranger to one of my closest confidants within weeks. There is nowhere I entered that you and your lens didn’t enter.

I can’t even believe I’m writing a tribute to you right now wtf we still had so much more to do. Your workshops. Your studios. Trips. Shows. Scenes. Moments. All of it. I can’t believe you didn’t give me the chance to fulfill the rest of my promises to you. my heart is so heavy right now, and I’m just so grateful I met you. You truly were the best kid. A rare breed and I’m so grateful that we got to travel the world and create so many iconic moments with you.

You are irreplaceable and you are gone now but I will make sure you are never forgotten! I swear it! This next one’s for you! RIP Lil bro. Love you forever

❤ #FortuneShotItAll”

Also reacting to Fortune’s death, Davido’s lawyer, Bobo Ajudua, noted that Fortune was their brother, friend and personal photographer. Not stopping there, he explained that the young man was very hardworking, daring and God-fearing and would literally put his life at risk just to get a perfect shot. He even mentioned remembering different occasions when they warned him not to climb dangerous places while carrying out his job.

“You would literally endanger your life to get the perfect shot. I am literally replaying multiple scenes of us yelling at you ‘Fortune noo!! You can’t climb there!!’ “Fortune are you crazy?! Get down from there!!” on almost every single outing we had.”

Giving an account of Fortune’s death, popular Instagram blogger, Tunde Ednut detailed;

“I’m sure you have all heard of fortune’s death by now. He died while at a shoot on Orange Island near Freedom way.

He fell into the water while scouting for a good shot apparently. It’s absurd and everyone knows fortune doesn’t know how to swim, so it makes no sense that he would risk it around deep waters like that.

We did our investigations and found out he was only with his blood brother, so it’s tough to build any case of the sort. Left helpless and confused. His dad has taken control.

We are yet to find and identify anybody. Please, everyone, be careful, that’s all I can say. May his soul rest in peace, Rest On Fortune”.

Davido has lost a handful of friends in the space of four years and at different times mourned the demise of his associates on social media platforms.

The first on the list is Tagbo Umeike, who died in his car parked in front of Lagos Island General Hospital. He died on his birthday in 2017 after it was reported that he downed shots of tequila.

Next was Tijani Olamilekan, aka Teejay, who was the singer’s personal bodyguard for 11 years, died after a brief illness in December 2020. Uthman, also known as Obama DMW, died in June 2021 after he was said to have complained of breathing difficulty. And finally, Davido Music World (DMW) chief official photographer, Fortunate Ateumunname Peter a.k.a Fortune who died on September 2021.
