Ganduje Ward Suspends APC National Chair

Members of the Ganduje Ward in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State have suspended Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Haruna Gwanjo, the leader of the Executive Council of Ganduje Ward, disclosed this during a press briefing in Kano on Monday.

According to Gwanjo, the former governor needs to dispel any accusations of wrongdoing related to his ongoing dollar lawsuit. 

The immediate former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, is scheduled to be arraigned by the Kano High Court on April 17, 2024, on charges pertaining to claims of bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of money. The charges include the alleged acceptance of bribes totaling N1.38 billion and $413,000.

The development was confirmed by Haruna Dederi, the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General for Kano State. She stated that Ganduje, his spouse, and six other individuals would be charged.

 According to the writ of summons, the following people are accused: Jibrilla Muhammad, Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lesage General Enterprises. 

The Kano State Government, which filed the criminal lawsuit against the eight respondents, has stated that it is prepared to call fifteen witnesses to testify in front of State High Court number four’s Justice Usman Na’aba.

“It is very true. We have filed the case and it’s going to hold on the 17th of April, 2024. What I cannot confirm is whether he is served or not, but he will definitely be served,” he said.

“What he (Ganduje) doesn’t understand is that you cannot run away from the evil day, it will definitely come to you, and this will even serve as a deterrence to all of us that are also in government now.”

“He was saying that we can’t prosecute him, forgetting that the offence also falls under the category of the state offences,” he said.

“It’s not totally a federal affair and we have even appealed to Justice Liman ruling on that.”
