Gov. Buni Debunks Sack as CECPC.

The National Chairman Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC, Gov. Mai Mala Buni, has debunked reports of his sack, describing it as ‘fake news.

The governor stated this Monday in Abuja and signed by the National Secretary of the CECPC, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe. His comment follows a report on Monday morning that President Buhari has sanctioned his sack before departing the country for London.

The statement reads, “Our attention has been drawn to sponsored media reports on an imaginary leadership change in the All Progressives Congress APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC.

“The media report is fake news and should be disregarded.

“The APC is a progressive political party guided by rules. Leadership changes are not announced by ‘sources’ through name dropping in the media.

“We urge our teeming supporters, members and indeed the general public to remain calm and support the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led APC CECPC conduct a rancour-free and credible National Convention deserving of our great party”.

In a related development, President Muhammadu Buhari has said the party has all it takes to handle the challenges it is facing. He noted that there is no cause for alarm.

Buhari stated this before he traveled for his routine medical check-up. Recall that the ruling party has postponed its supposed national convention. This has raised concerns amongst Nigerians.

However, Buhari is optimistic that the party will pull through on March 26. He said,

“Well, they should wait and see. How did we come as a party to take power from the ruling party, who had been there before us for so many years? So, we have the capacity, and everything will be all right.”

On the vacuum to be created due to his absence, he said: “Well, I cannot claim to be doing the work alone. The government is fully represented. The Vice President is there. Constitutionally, whenever I’m away, he’s in charge. And the Secretary to the Government and then the Chief of Staff, so, no problem.”
