“I started doing drugs in 2020” – Timaya

Popular Nigerian singer, Inetimi Alfred Timaya, better known as Timaya disclosed how he became addicted to hard drugs which had adverse effects on him and his finances.

During an interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Timaya acknowledged his past involvement with drugs, emphasizing that he is not without fault.

Timaya revealed his experience with drug addiction which began during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020..

He said that it all started during the lockdown when he visited some young men who appeared very content and happy despite not having as much as he had.

Timaya said he inquired about their source of happiness, and they confessed to using Molly, a type of drug, which intrigued Timaya. After trying it, he found immense joy, and as a result, even gave away his money due to the joy he experienced at that moment.

However, his habit escalated, leading to significant weight loss as he consumed three pills daily.

He revealed that he lost a lot of money as a result of this.

According to him, brands were no longer interested in working with him and he developed a reluctance to follow up business calls as he felt he only had what provided him with the joy and happiness he needed in life.
