Isa Describes National Chair’s Corruption Allegation  “Heavy Offences”

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has been called to honourably resign till he clears the corruption allegations against him by the state government.

The call was made by a Kano-based legal practitioner, Wangida Isa, during his appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief show on Tuesday. He described the allegations against the ex-governor as “heavy offences”.

Isa claimed Ganduje had not been cleared since the court ordered a federal trial for him because the charges of money laundering the state government brought against him were deemed to be federal in nature.

Dismissing charges that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) arranged Ganduje’s suspension through some APC executives at the ward level, the attorney stated that ward executives were constitutionally entitled to fire any party member.

Recall that Empire had reported that the immediate former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, is scheduled to be arraigned by the Kano High Court on April 17, 2024, on charges pertaining to claims of bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of money. The charges include the alleged acceptance of bribes totaling N1.38 billion and $413,000.

The development was confirmed by Haruna Dederi, the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General for Kano State. She stated that Ganduje, his spouse, and six other individuals would be charged.

According to the writ of summons, the following people are accused: Jibrilla Muhammad, Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lesage General Enterprises.

The Kano State Government, which filed the criminal lawsuit against the eight respondents, has stated that it is prepared to call fifteen witnesses to testify in front of State High Court number four’s Justice Usman Na’aba.
