Marlian Music banned on MTV Base, Soundcity, CoolFM and others.

MTV Base, an international music channel, has joined the growing list of music outlets that have placed a ban on Marlian Music Records.

Marlian Music is a record label owned by singer, Naira Marley who has been accused of ‘having a hand’ in the untimely death of one of its signees, Mohbad.

Mohbad’s death sparked controversies with the emergence of several videos of harassment and bullying he suffered while was alive, leading many to point accusing fingers at the label’s boss and his well-known associate, Sam Larry, to be the cause of his untimely demise.

The intensity of the allegations has only grown stronger by the day, forcing radio stations around the country including Cool FM, Splash FM, Fresh FM, Island FM, Okin FM, Divine FM, to place a “Not to Be Broadcast” (NTTB) ban on all the songs under the Marlian Records Label.

British music channel, MTV Base also joined this bandwagon.

The ban by MTV was announced by popular TV host, Ehizojie Okoeguale aka DadaBoy Ehiz, a staff of the music channel.

He made the announcement on his X handle in a tweet which reads;

“Mtvbase dropped everything Marlian … kudos to dem.”

Also, one of the Marlian Record’s signee, Zinoleesky’s US Tour was recently canceled. Zinoleesky has also removed all affiliations with Marlian Records Label from his instagram bio.

Zinoleesky’s Instagram now features his personal record label, “Zinonymous Sounds”.

Although it has not been officially confirmed that he has parted ways with Marlian Music, there are speculations that his choice to promote his personal brand, ‘Zinonymous Sounds,’ is influenced by the backlash that Marlian Music is currently facing on the internet.

Meanwhile, Social media influencer turned gospel singer, Mandy Ayomiposi Oluwada, better known as Mandy Kiss, has taken to social media to express her regret at tattooing Naira Marley’s face on her laps.

You will recall that Mandy, who openly referred to herself as the “president of hookers,” gained social media attention in 2021 when she got a tattoo of the singer’s face on her thigh.

Following the controversy surrounding Marlian Label and the death of Mohbad, Mandy expressed her excitement at removing the tattoo and declared that day the happiest of her life.

She wrote,

“I regretted d day I tattooed ur face on my laps NairaMarley!

You’re a big mess

Best day of my life is June 30!

D day I erased ur face”.
