Ondo Decides Today!

The long-expected October 10 for the Ondo State Governorship election is here. The race seems to be centered around three major opposition parties although no fewer than 15 political parties had initially shown interest.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Rotimi Akeredolu, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Eyitayo Jegede, and the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) Agboola Ajayi.
Recall that the candidates signed a peace accord, with a pledge to shun violence during the election. With the outcome of the Edo State Governorship election which has recorded foreign accolades, hopes are high to seeing a credible pool in ondo as well.
The three major governorship candidates had promised to allow peace reign during the election and eschew any act that may undermine the peace pact.
Earlier, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar had called on the three major candidates to respect the accord as it is a basis for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the election, stressing that no election is worth the life of any individual.
A few days ago, 10 governorship candidates withdrew from the race and threw their weight behind the candidature of Mr. Eyitayo Jegede of the PDP, while two other political parties also coalesced into the APC and teamed up with Governor Akeredolu who is seeking reelection on the platform of his party.
In a recent development, the Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State again urged the people of the state to be peaceful and orderly as they go to the polls on Saturday to elect a governor for the next four years.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Director-General of his campaign council, Mr. Victor Olabimtan, on Friday in Akure, the state capital.
Meanwhile, the Inspector- General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the restriction of vehicular movement from 11:59 PM today to 6 pm on Saturday, October 10 in Ondo State. The order is part of efforts by the Force to ensure effective coordination of public order and safety during the gubernatorial election.
The IGP reiterated that the vehicular restriction order, among other things, is aimed at preventing political actors and trouble-makers from freely engaging in unpatriotic acts – circulation and use of illicit arms and hard drugs, movement of political thugs from contiguous States to Ondo State, and disruption of the electoral processes which are inimical to the dictates of the electoral laws.
As Nigerians and the world at large is looking forward to a credible poll, What is your thought as Ondo Decides? Who do you think will befit the people of Ondo?
