Ondo PDP losses member to ZLP

The Ondo State PDP has again lost one of her member to the Zenith Labour Party. Banji Okunomo a  former Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Ondo State, resigned his membership of the party.

Okunomo announced his resignation from the PDP at Domfav Hotel in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State. He is said to be heading for the Zenith Labour Party ZLP to join forces with Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and Hon Agboola Agbo.

Okunomo contested at the governorship primary of the PDP but got 90 votes.His name was among those presented to the PDP governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, to be picked as running mate but Jegede refused.

He said he was leaving the PDP alongside 15, 000 members across the 18 local governments areas of Ondo State at a formal declaration to be announced later.

Recall that the party had been in crises after Eyitayo Jegede picked his deputy while many aspirants withdrew their support.

In another development, some lawmakers in the Ondo State House of Assembly have raised the alarm over the alleged plot to kill them.

The lawmakers were suspended for misconduct but an Akure High Court reversed their suspension and ordered the Assembly to pay three of them the sum of N15m.

On Monday, suspected thugs invaded the Assembly but Speaker Bamidele Oleyelogun, said they were members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers who were at the Assembly for a meeting.

But the Deputy Speaker who was among those suspended, Hon Iroju Ogundeji, said they were currently helpless.

According to him, “Idajo and his members from the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW came to the house to kill us on the order of the governor and the speaker. They said we should not enter the house to perform our constitutional legislative duties.

“Right now, we are helpless because they are using government power against us. We are only relying on God to come to our aide.”
