Police invade Seun Kuti’s home, launch search for exhibits and seize his wife’s phone

The Lagos state police command on Tuesday evening, invaded the residence of embattled singer, Seun Kuti, situated at Akin Osiyemi, off Ikeja, Lagos.

According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, the command duly obtained a warrant to search Seun Kuti’s home.

He said this action was part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged assault.

“It’s part of our ongoing investigations. We were investigating assault, we stumbled on some things we needed to verify. We got a duly issued search warrant, which we executed,” Hundeyin stated.

In a video making rounds on the internet, the men of the police command had raided his house in Allen Avenue while the singer, who was handcuffed, waited inside one of the police vehicles.

It was also gathered that the security operatives who carried out the search seized Kuti’s wife’s mobile phone in the process.

“The police officers invaded Seun’s home here on my street, Akin Osiyemi, and he was in the vehicle with them while in handcuffs.

They stormed and searched his apartment. But they also seized his wife’s phone before driving off with Seun Kuti,” a witness told PUNCH.
