Nigerians have reacted over the recent statement by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, during Wednesday’s plenary that the clerk of the National Assembly will send some money into their various bank accounts to enable them to enjoy their holiday.
Since the announcement of the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu during his inaugural speech, Nigerians have relatively suffered an increase in the prices of goods, causing pains and difficulties for the ordinary citizen. Amidst this, the political class seems to be enjoying increment and other benefits while others are tearing up.
In the video that went viral on Wednesday, August 9, Akpabio was speaking the words just before a motion to adjourn the Senate’s ministerial screening was made.
He said, “In order to enable all of us to enjoy our holidays, a token has been sent to our various accounts by the clerk of the national assembly.”
Akpabio however withdrew his statement in a moment and said, “I withdraw that statement.”
“In order to allow you to enjoy your holiday, the Senate President has sent prayers to your mailboxes to assist you to go on a safe journey and return.”
