Yusuf Called to Dump NNPP, Join APC
Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano has been openly urged by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, to defect from the Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and join the ruling party, APC.
Former state governor Ganduje stressed the strategic significance of Governor Yusuf’s possible defection to the APC during his remarks at a stakeholders conference in Kano on Thursday. He envisioned Kano becoming a one-party state.
“Our hands are wide open. We are appealing to those who like to join our party. In particular, we are inviting the governor of Kano state to dump his party, NNPP, and join APC,” Ganduje declared during the meeting.
Ganduje highlighted the achievement of luring governors into the APC from other states and expressed optimism about reproducing this feat at the state level.
“We have achieved in wooing some governors to join APC. Very soon some governors will join our party,” he said. “So, if we can do this at the national level, why can’t we do it at the state level?”
With a pledge of peace and harmony inside the APC, the National Chairman of the party gave an assurance that the party would foster an atmosphere that would be favorable to Governor Yusuf and his supporters.
“We promise to create an enabling environment for the governor of Kano State so that we make a solid, very big followership. This is a reflection of our population since we are the most populous state in the federation,” Ganduje added.
