Akpabio Swears Akpoti-Uduaghan As Senator Representing Kogi Central

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has been sworn in as Senator representing Kogi Central.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, swears in the senator at Thursday’s plenary. She was administered the oath by the Clerk of the Senate at exactly 11:41 a.m.

Her election was upheld by the Appeal Court on Monday after confirmation by the Kogi National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal.

Abubakar Ohere, her opponent and the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) candidate, has contested her election win in a lower court. After losing, he filed an appeal with the appellate court.

However, in its ruling, the appellate court upheld the earlier judgment of the Tribunal.

The PDP candidate Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was proclaimed by the Tribunal as the legitimate senator for Kogi Central after receiving 54,354 valid votes while her closest rival, APC’s Ohere received 51,291 votes.
