Another PDP Member Decamps

Another member of the main opposition, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), former Minister of Aviation and serving Senator Stella Oduah, has decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The APC’s spokesperson, Salisu Na’inna Dambatta, communicated this in a statement on Thursday.

The party received her with a brief ceremony in Abuja and accepted her into the party was the Chairman, APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) and Governor of Yobe State, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni and the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma and the Deputy President of the Senate, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege, the statement added.

In the November 6 governorship election in Anambra State, Senator Andy Uba, the APC candidate, was also present.

In his welcome speech to Oduah, Mai Mala Buni, the Chairman of the Extraordinary/Caretaker Convention Planning Committee, congratulated her for joining the ruling party and guaranteed her rights as all other members of the party.

“You will enjoy the privileges enjoyed by all members of the party because you will have a waiver,” Buni said.

Speaking on her reason for joining the party, Oduah stated that she intends to change the political narrative in the South East region. She added that her supporters in Anambra State have also shown their interest in joining her.

Recall that the PDP has been losing its members to the ruling party in recent times. This, among other reasons, was part of the calls made to the party’s National chairman to step down. oduah’s recent move will raise the brows of many as to the heightened decamping in the opposition party even as the nation approaches the next general election.
