Davido unfollows Israel DMW after he apologised to Muslim community over music video
Superstar singer, David ”Davido” Adeleke has unfollowed his aide, Israel Afeare aka Israel DMW, hours after he apologised to the Muslim community for the ‘Jaye Lo’ music video.
The Logistics Manager and had earlier tendered an apology to the Muslim community over the controversial music video of Logos Olori which was shared on social media by the DMW boss.
Davido faced heavy backlash after he took to his Twitter page to share a snippet of a music video to promote his new signee, Logos Olori.
The ‘Jaye Lo’ music video sparked massive outrage among Nigerian Muslims due to its content featuring men dressed in Jalamiya, an Islamic outfit, praying and dancing in front of a mosque. Many saw the video as a mockery of their religion and criticized Davido for it.
In response to the criticism, Davido eventually bowed to pressure and deleted the video without offering an apology. The Muslim community still demanded a public apology from the award-winning singer. To pacify them, Israel DMW, took to his Instagram story and apologized on behalf of his boss.
He explained that Jaye Lo clip is purely for entertainment purposes that was wrongly presented. He further declared that he loves all Muslims.
Israel wrote: “Let me specially apologise to my Muslims brothers and sisters, on the video my oga posted, as a result of him wanting to lift up somebody, which is one of his hubbies. It was purely an entertainment effort wrongly presented. Make una no vex. Love you all.”
Following this, a check on Davido’s Instagram page revealed that he has unfollowed Isreal. However, the reason for the unfollowing remains unclear.
In reaction, imkadzin said; “Funny how celebs get pissed and the next thing is unfollow the person😂 looks like too much time on dem hands”.
