FA Cup: Man Utd set up quarter-finals clash against Liverpool

Manchester United are through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup where they will square up against familiar rivals, Liverpool, courtesy of a late 89th-minute header from Casemiro.

The game against Nottingham Forest had looked like it might head into extra time as both sides had failed to find the back of the net leading to full-time.

With a minute to stoppage time, the Brazilian found himself in the right position as he tipped in Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick, although the goal was subjected to a long VAR review for a possible offside, it was eventually allowed to stand, and it proved to be enough to send the Red Devils to the next round.

The showdown against Liverpool billed to take place next month at Old Trafford, is already a highly anticipated one United’s under-pressure manager, Ten Hag, will be hoping to get something against a better-composed Liverpool side, who defeated Southampton 3-0 to progress to the next round.
