Funke Akindele Breaks Nollywood Records With Her Debut Movie “Omo Ghetto.”
Congratulations to Funke Akindele-belle and her husband JJC Skillz as their debut movie “omo ghetto (the saga)” becomes Nollywood’s highest-grossing movie of all time.
The movie ‘Omo Ghetto’ was said to have beaten the 2016 film “the wedding party” by Kemi Adetiba after being named as Nollywood’s highest-grossing movie of all time for four years.
The movie “Omo Ghetto,” which was released on December 25, 2020, features Funke Akindele in the dual role of Ayomide and Lefty, Tina Mba, Adebayo Salami aka Oga Bello, Chioma Akpotha, Bimbo Thomas, Eniola Badmus, Deyemi Okanlawon, Zubby Michael, Mercy Aigbe, Timini Egbuson, Alex Ekubo
According to a statement released by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), the movie “omo ghetto (the saga)” maintained the number one spot for good three weeks upon its release.
The 2020 comedy movie “omo ghetto” became the highest-grossing Nollywood movie after it grossed N468,036,300 for three straight weeks.
On the other hand, with ‘Omo Ghetto’ taking the number one spot, “The Wedding Party” now ranked N453,000,000, while its sequel “The Wedding Party 2” is at number three with N433,197,377.
Kemi Adetiba also reacted to Funke Akindele’s movie “Omo Ghetto,” beating her movie “the wedding part 1” from its number one spot. She tweeted;
“Just want to inform y’all that Funke Akindele is about to break the WEDDING PARTY 1 record… If she hasn’t broken it already. If you understand how INCREDIBLE this feat would be in a non-covid year, then you’ll understand even how more crazy it is in a covid year. I’m GINGERED!”
Also reacting is Nigerian Comedienne Real Warri Pikin, who took to her Instagram to congratulate Funke Akindele. She wrote on Instagram;
