The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has called on politicians not to flood the government house during work days.
He noted this in a video on Facebook, where he was addressing a congregation, nothing that these politicians distract him with their influx at official hours. He called on the politicians to allow him to concentrate on the job he was elected to do.
Expressing his grievance, the governor said he was being distracted by too many unexpected visits from politicians in and across the state.
He stated, “I will not go to anybody’s office without an appointment. I find it amusing that people would just leave their homes and just show up, and they will call you that they have not been allowed to pass through the Government House gate.
“I will only receive visitors on Thursdays and Fridays. I beg us, between Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, I will not receive visitors to allow me time to do the job that you have elected me to do because no one would ask how many visitors I received at the end of four years.
“Allow us to hold the meeting we can hold, treat some files – you know we are almost treating files late, and I have tried to manage it for some time, but people would get angry,” he said.
Governor Eno is the 5th Democratic elected governor of Akwa Ibom state. He took over from Udom Emmanuel and was inaugurated on May 29th, 2023.
What is your take on the governor’ call for politicians to allow him to concentrate on his job and his preferred days of receiving visitors?
