Hilda Baci surpasses 87-hour mark to break Guinness World Record

Hilda Baci, the head cook at FoodbyHilda, has finally broken the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.

Hilda commenced a four-day ‘cook-a-thon’ on Thursday, May 11 at Amore Gardens, Lekki, Lagos state, and concluded it on May 14, 2023, after 88+ hours of non-stop cooking.

Over the course of the marathon, Hilda prepared more than 100 recipes, showcasing her exceptional culinary skills and determination to break the previous record of 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds by Lata Tondon in Rewa, India, 2019.

Hilda caught the attention of quite a good number of audiences who went out of their way to come and support her. This includes celebrities like Charles Okocha, also, A-list celebrities like Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, and Burna Boy, among others, who took to different platforms to show their support.

Among the long queue of people who had stepped out to throw their weight behind Hilda is the former first lady of Anambra state, Margret Brownson Usen, Peter Obi’s wife.

Upon breaking the world record on the cooking marathon, Nollywood Actress, Ini Edo gushed about the chef, who she described as a national sensation. Ini wrote: “She has done it! What an Akwaibom gal cannot do….. that’s what am talking about.. super proud, beyond a national sensation.. This takes HEART! Receive thy flowers sister gal Take the entire garden . God is with you Guinness Record shattered .” 

Meanwhile, the GWR team would have to officially acknowledge her achievement before she can be declared the new record holder.
