Messi, Guardiola bag FIFA The Best Award

Argentina talisman, Lionel Messi, has added another trophy to his collection, having scooped the converted prize of the Best Male Player for 2023 at the FIFA Best Awards which was held in London last night.

The 2022 World Cup winner beat youngsters, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe to take home the award for the 8th time.

Man City coach, Pep Guardiola, took home the award for Best Coach, edging Napoli’s Luciano Spalletti and Inter Milan’s, Simone Inzaghi.

City’s keeper, Ederson, bagged the award for Best Goalkeeper, ahead of Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois and Al Hilal’s Yassine Bounou.

He however wasn’t included in the FIFA Men’s Team of Years, with Thibaut Courtois, picked ahead of him.
