Netflix features Ikorodu Bois on Oscars film brand campaign in reaction to “Army Of The Dead” Movie Remake

The Ikorodu Bois, a Nigerian online comedy group known for its fun and a creative remake of popular music videos, epic pictures, and Hollywood movie trailers, yesterday created and shared their remake of Netflix’s action movie thriller “Army Of The Dead” on their Twitter page.

Army of the Dead is Snyder’s first post-DC project, making this a film many fans are curious to see. Fans which includes the Ikorodu Bois. Ikorodu Bois shared their latest work on Twitter, showing a side-by-side comparison of the official Army of the Dead trailer compared to their own remake.

Netflix and Hollywood Director Zack Snyder shared and reacted to this remake via their Twitter timelines. In fact, they loved the remake and admired this rare talent. In a video shared by Sydney, was shown their work in an interview while promoting Army of the Dead. He responded by calling it amazing. He even got to talk to them afterward and complimented their skills.

In a statement made available to The Punch, Netflix announced its plans to feature Ikorodu Bois in its Oscar Weekend Film Brand Campaign. 

 “Netflix’s wide reach has woken up a new generation of global film fans, allowing them to discover more diverse perspectives, see themselves reflected and inspiring new forms of movie-love…Once a year, the Oscars pierce the culture and put movies on our collective minds, and this year, we are putting the spotlight on the Ikorodu Bois to remind movie fans that fans are the most important part of the movies.

The year 2020/21 has been a weird and wonderful year for films and film lovers and our films brought joy and hope to the industry, and more importantly, to fans. In seeing the Ikorodu Bois channel their creativity into remakes/tributes of their favorite movies, we see the joy of being a fan”, the statement reads in parts. 

The Vice President of Netflix, Eric Pallotta, said “We chose to spotlight the Ikorodu Bois because their style is both charming and unique, using a mix of DIY craft and childlike joy to recreate mega-budget films on a shoestring.

The Ikorodu Bois have spoofed all sorts of movies including Extraction 2, Bad Boys For Life, Money Heist, and now Army of the Dead. They plan to make their own movie one day which would be great to see.
