Oyewo Lauds Tinubu’s Suspension of Edu

A former Oyo State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo, has said President Bola Tinubu has earned Nigerians’ trust over the suspension of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, over alleged N585 million fraud.

Oyewo hailed the president’s action, in an interview with Newsmen describing the prompt action on the financial scandal as a right step in the right direction.

He observed that despite grave accusations of financial misconduct, ministers were treated by succeeding administrations like royalty, with impunity.

“Tinubu has demonstrated that Nigerians should keep their trust in him,” the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), said.

On his part, Prof. Gbade Ojo, a political scientist and public affairs commentator, has opined that the prompt suspension of Edu was an indication that Tinubu is a no-nonsense president.

He believes that Tinubu’s conduct will help rebuild public trust in his commitment to benefiting Nigerians.

“Actually, what Mr President did is the norm because you cannot be probing someone and still allow the person to stay in office.

“Records will disappear and evidences destroyed if that is allowed to happen,” he said.

Empire had reported that President Bola Tinubu has ordered a thorough probe of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation led by Betta Edu.

Edu has been allegedly involved in the approval of N585,198,500.00 to be disbursed into a personal account of Oniyelu Bridget as a grant for vulnerable groups in four states.
