The newly confirmed Service Chiefs have been decorated today by President Muhammadu Buhari during an event held in the State House’s Council Chamber.

The President charged the service chiefs that they have only a few weeks to secure the country.

The new service chiefs’ wives accompanied them to the State House, including other Nigerian Armed Forces senior officers.
The President noted that before the rainy season, the service chiefs should secure the country to the level that farmers who had fled their farms in different parts of Nigeria would have developed enough confidence to return.

The Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor, who spoke with a journalist after the ceremony, stated that Nigerians could not continue to live in fear. He said the era for Nigerians living in fear will now be a thing of the past.

During the confirmation exercise, Senate President Ahmad Lawan advised the new service chiefs to war against insurgency and dislodged terrorists and bandits from their hideout.
He reminded them to be conscious that Nigerians expect a lot from them to address the security problems confronting the country, having been replaced.
