Empire star Bryshere Gray sentenced to Jail After Pleading Guilty to Aggravated Assault

Bryshere Gray, known for his role as Hakeem Lyon in the Fox primetime musical television series, ‘Empire’, has been sentenced to 10 days in county jail and 3 years probation.

In July last year, a regional ABC outlet reported that Gray had been arrested in Goodyear, Arizona in connection with a domestic violence incident. Police said at the time, they received a call around 10:15 pm alerting them to a woman who had been assaulted. The assaulted woman was later confirmed to be Gray’s wife after she said she had been assaulted at home for “hours” by Gray.

Initially, Gray refused to exit his home when officers arrived. SWAT and Crisis Negotiations officials were then dispersed to the home, where Gray later surrendered to authorities early the following morning. He was then taken into custody and booked on domestic violence charges.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Gray had pleaded guilty to felony aggravated assault and as part of his plea agreement, he’s been sentenced to 10 days in county jail and 3 years probation. He has also been ordered to pay restitution.

Part of the deal states that during Gray’s probation, he won’t be allowed to consume any illegal drugs and he’ll also have to submit to drug and alcohol testing. He also can’t possess any stun guns, Tasers, or any other kind of firearm. He must also check in with his probation officer within 72 hours of being contacted by law enforcement and he needs written approval from police before associating with anyone who has a criminal record.
