Actor Desmond Elliot defeats Olumide Oworu with over 1000 votes in Surulere Constituency

Nigerian actor cum politician, Desmond Elliot has won the Surulere constituency 1 assembly seat in Lagos state for the third time, beating his colleague Olumide Oworu hands down.

The governorship and assembly elections were conducted nationwide on Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Surulere constituency I seat was one of those keenly contested. The leading candidates are those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and of the Labour Party (LP).

After the final collation of results, Elliot came tops with 17,877 votes while the candidate of the Labour Party, Olumide Oworu came second with 7,822 votes.

A video making rounds showed the actor and his proud supporters rejoicing and celebrating his re-election.

Following his victory, Desmond Elliot penned an appreciation post to his opponents. He commended their efforts at the election.

Making an offer to them, Desmond stated that he is looking forward to working with them and sharing ideas on how to make the constituency better.

He pledged to give his utmost best at giving succor and relief to his constituents

“Thank you Surulere. I commend the worthy efforts of the given in other parties. Hon Thompson (PDP) Mr Olumide Oworu (LP) Mr Bode Adedayo (LP). I’m glad for the youthful zest you put into the campaign. Please I am more than willing to work with you and share ideas on how to make our dear constituency a better place. I pledge to give my utmost best at giving succor and relief to my constituents to the best of my legislative ability. Thank you Thank you Thank you. Sura wa a lere oooo”, he wrote.

This is coming after Desmond shared a video of his courtesy visit to the speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila. Elliot appreciated him for being his father, mentor, leader and speaker of the nation.

“Many many many thanks to my Father, mentor, leader and speaker of the nation @speakergbaja Rep Femi Gbajabiamila. Thank you boss. Most grateful. @olanrewaju_smart thank you dear brother”.
