Actress Regina King’s only son commit suicide after Birthday

Actress Regina King’s 26 years old son, Ian Alexander Jr., committed suicide just a few days after his birthday.

King confirmed the sad news in a statement to People, which reads;

“Our family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of Ian. He was such a bright light who cared so deeply about the happiness of others.

“Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time”.

Ian was King’s only child, whom she shared with her ex-husband, record producer Ian Alexander Sr. After separating from Ian’s father in 2007 after nine years of marriage, King admitted being a single parent wasn’t always easy, but that nothing is stronger than her love for her son. She admitted that Ian was her biggest source of pride.

“You don’t know what unconditional love is. You may say you do, but if you don’t have a child, you don’t know what that is,” she explained at the time. “When you experience it, it’s the most fulfilling thing ever.

“The pair also has matching tattoos, which read “unconditional love” in Aramaic — his on his shoulder and hers on her arm.

Until his death, the 26-year-old Ian was an artist and disc jockey.

Few days ago, Ian, who was a musician, announced on his Instagram page that he had a performance coming up next week and encouraged his followers to purchase tickets.
