AFCON: South Africa sets up semi-final clash against Nigeria

South Africa defeated Cape Verde on penalties to set up a highly anticipated showdown against Nigeria in the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations.

After playing out a barren draw through regulation time and extra time, a shootout was all there was left to do.

The heroics of South Africa’s keeper, Ronwen Williams, came to bear as he saved four penalties to ensure the Bafana Bafana for South Africa remained in the competition, becoming the first keeper to ever make four penalty saves at an AFCON tournament.
