Arsenal beat Man City to Community Shield Triumph

After leaving the league to Manchester City last season, it seemed like Mikel Arterta’s side was about to watch Pep Guardiola’s boys clinch the first trophy of the new season, until the tide changed right at the nick of time, leading Arsenal to lift their first trophy of the new season.

The pretty entertaining game stayed goalless until Cole Palmer grabbed an opener for City in the 70th minute.

The Treble winners had managed to hold on to the lead and their fans were already in celebratory mood, when Leandro Trossard’s shot deflected off Akanji and into City’s post, to level things and drag the game into penalties.

In an edgy shoot-out, Kevin de Bruyne hit the crossbar, while Rodri’s kick got saved before Fabio Vieira sent home the shit that sealed it for Arsenal, putting them in high spirits ahead of the new season that kicks off next weekend.
