Barcelona put four past Real Madrid in an emphatic El Clasico win

La Liga leaders, Real Madrid, crumbled to an embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in Sunday’s El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Adjudged as possible favourites heading into the game, Madrid were thrown off balance just 37 minutes into the game, thanks to goals from former Arsenal man, Aubameyang and Ronald Araujo, as Barcelona completely dominated the game heading into the break.

A few minutes after the break, Ferran Torres made it three for the visitors before Aubameyang, who has been in excellent form since his abrupt and late move to Barcelona, grab his second and Barcelona’s fourth for the night.

The statement result means Barca is now unbeaten in 12 games since Xavi replaced Ronald Koeman in November.
Meanwhile, this was Madrid’s first El Clasico defeat in three years and, though they are nine points clear of Sevilla at the top of the log with nine matches to go, this defeat will live with them for a while.
