Cristiano Ronaldo sets new record in 600th league appearance

Cristiano Ronaldo marked his 600th league appearance across the four clubs he has played for with his 20th Serie A goal of the season as Juventus put three past Spezia to clinch three vital points on Tuesday.

Ronaldo’s goal, which was Juve’s third of the night, saw him become the first player to score at least 20 goals in each of the past 12 seasons in Europe’s top five leagues.

All three goals came in the second half, with Alvaro Morata breaking the deadlock in the 64th minute before Federico Chiesa made it two seven minutes later. Ronaldo sealed off the victory with a third in the 89th minute.

Spezia missed a late chance to pull one back from the spot as Szczesny rose to the occasion to save the stoppage-time spot-kick.

The victory moved Juventus to three points off second-placed AC Milan and seven points behind league leaders, Inter Milan.
