PFA Awards: Mo Salah Not In Sight As Mane, Other Battle for Player of the Year

Premier League Champions, Liverpool dominate PFA awards nomination as Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all in contention with  Manchester City pair Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling for the 2020 PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.

The presence of four Liverpool players with the notable absence of Eygptian striker Mohamed Salah is clearly a nod to the incredible season enjoyed by Jurgen Klopp’s side

Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne is the current Premier League Player of the Year having landed that prize for his excellent outing in 2019-20 season and he will be hoping to complete a notable double, allowing him to follow in the footsteps of Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Van Dijk – who have taken the PFA gong in the last two seasons.

PFA Young Player of the Year Award

Liverpool full-back Alexander-Arnold is basking in the aftermath of a great season with two PFA nominations to his name.

The English player is also  up for the Young Player of the Year award alongside his National team counterpart and Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood. With Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, his Stamford Bridge team-mate Mason Mount and Arsenal teenager Bukayo Saka all getting nods for the award, that category can easily be referred to as ‘a battle for the best English young player’.

The winners of the individual awards will be announced on Tuesday. Who is your money on for the win in each category?
