EPL: Erling Haaland breaks goal-scoring record as City returns to tabletop

Erling Haaland has now become the Premier League player with the most goals in a single season, breaking Alan Shearer and Andy Cole’s joint record of 34 goals in a 42-match campaign.

The 22-year-old Norwegian scored City’s second goal in the side’s 3-0 victory over West Ham, to take his tally to 35 goals in 31 games.

The free-scoring attacker was given a guard of honour by City players and staff at the end of the game to celebrate the feat.

The other goals were scored by Nathan Ake and substitute, Phil Foden.

The result moved City back to the top of the Premier League table, a point ahead of Arsenal, with a game in hand.

City has now also scored a record 1,000 goals under Pep Guardiola who joined the club in 2016.
