Europa League: Manchester United snatch narrow comeback victory against Omonia Nicosia

Manchester United had to rely on substitutes, Marcus Rashford and Antony Martial to avoid an embarrassing defeat to Omonia Nicosia in their Europa League encounter on Thursday.

Off the back of a humiliating 6-3 defeat to Man City in the Premier League over the weekend, it was expected that Erik Ten Hag’s men will respond decisively, but that wasn’t the case as the Cyprus side took the lead in the 34th minute through Karim Ansarifard.

Eight minutes after the break,  Rashford came off the bench to get an equaliser.

He went on to set up fellow sub, Martial for a second goal ten minutes later, before making it three in the 3-1 in the 84th minute.

The home side pulled one back barely one minute later but the result was enough to leave United side in Group E with six points, three behind group leaders, Real Sociedad.
