FA Cup: Chelsea books fourth-round slot with Five Star performance over Chesterfield
Chelsea took no prisoners as they swept past battling National League side Chesterfield, to cruise into the FA Cup fourth round with a resounding 5-1 victory at Stamford Bridge.
Straight off to business, Timo Werner gave the Blues the lead six minutes into the game.
Callum Hudson-Odoi’s doubled Chelsea’s advantage 12 minutes on before Romelu Lukaku added a third and Andreas Christensen’s made it 4-0 for the host, before the break.
After the break, Thomas Tuchel’s men simply picked up from where they stopped as Hakim Ziyech converted a 55th-minute spot-kick to make it five.
With 10 minutes left to play, the visitors grabbed a consolation goal through Akwasi Asante, but that was all the underdogs were going to get in a game they never really had a chance in.
