FA CUP: Man Utd sends Liverpool packing in seven-goal showpiece

Manchester United shattered Liverpool’s quadruple dreams, as they grabbed an extra time win over the Reds in an epic 4-3 FA Cup quarter-finals face-off at Old Trafford, to process to the semi-finals of the competition. 

Scott McTominay gave the hosts an early lead, ten minutes into the game before Alexis Mac Allister equalized and Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool the lead heading into the break.

After the break, Liverpool remained in control till Antony grabbed an equalizer for United just three minutes to stoppage time.

A few minutes later, Marcus Rashford missed a glorious chance to seal things off and win it for United, with the chance not taken, the game went into extra time. 

Substitute Harvey Elliott, had won it for Liverpool when his shot deflected off  Christian Eriksen and into the back of United’s net in the 105th minute.

But, the game was far from over as substitute, Amad Diallo sprinted along side fellow youngster Gernacho and made no mistakes, as he slotted in the Argentine’s pass to score United’s 4th goal and the eventual winner, sending Old Trafford into eruption, after 120 minutes of pulsating football. 

The result means Ten Hag’s men will be up against Coventry City in the Semifinals for a place in the final, while Chelsea is up against Man City.
