Inter Milan Crash Out Of UCL, As Atlético Progresses

Atletico Madrid are through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, following a thrilling 3-2 penalty win over Inter Milan.

Inter had gone to Spain with a 1-0 advantage having won the first leg at home and had been tipped to progress, but Diego Simeone’s proved not to be pushovers as they gave the Seria A leaders s good run for their money, earning a 2-1 win at stoppage time.

With an aggregate of 2-2, the game progressed to extra time and eventually, penalties, where Atlético keeper, Jan Oblak, rose to the occasion, saving two penalties, before Inter’s inform hit man, Lautaro Martinez, surprisingly missed his shot to hand their Spanish opponents the chance to remain in the competition. 

The quarter-finals draw will take place on Friday, when all eight teams Atletico,  Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Paris St-Germain, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, will get to their opponents. 

The quality of the teams left in the competition alludes to the fact that the Champions League gets better with each round.
