“I have built a brand of integrity” – Very Dark Man brags about entering the Chinese-only supermarket without restrictions

Controversial social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, better known as Verydarkman has taken to social media to brag about how his integrity has paved the way for him in the Chinese-only restaurant restricting entry to Nigerians.

Recall earlier on Sunday, Nigerians had expressed outrage over a discriminatory policy implemented by an Abuja-based Chinese supermarket that restricted entry exclusively to its citizens and barred Nigerians. The supermarket, which is located at the China General Chamber of Commerce, specialises in Chinese cuisine and beverages.

A video shared by X Daily revealed a resident expressing discontent over the discriminatory policy.

The resident said, “Wonders shall never end. There is a supermarket I saw online that is a Chinese supermarket. They have Chinese food, ramen and other things. I wanted to go there and check it out but I was denied entry. The security officers at the gate said the supermarket was strictly for Chinese people and no Nigerian was allowed to go inside or buy anything. Is that possible in China?

“This supermarket is here in Abuja and a Nigerian cannot enter. This is a joke. So that means a Chinese guy has more rights than you here in Nigeria. Chinese guys are allowed to visit anywhere in the country. The thing shocked me oo. Now I am going back to our local supermarket because they said I cannot enter.”

Nigerians made a fuss about it until they were even rumours that the supermarket had been shut downby officials of the Federal Competition and Consumer and Protection Commission (FCCPC).

Reacting to the entire scenery, Verydarkman made it a point of duty to update Nigerians on how he was granted access into the alleged supermarket.

In his words;

“Why did they allow me enter and not let news channels enter,BECAUSE I AM VDM!I have built a brand of integrity and they know I won’t twist the truth to suit a narrative…is the building that those people pointed a supermarket? NO,is that whole place a supermarket?

NO,it is a residential area with a lot of companies in it…is there a supermarket in one of those resident(NO,there is a store where l everyone in the estate goes to shop) are Nigerians allowed l into the estate? Yes if you have an appointment(now yall should apologize to me)….”

This comes shortly after Very Dark Man had made a video, touring the expanse of the area where the Chinese-only supermarkets was located.

He had walked in freely, without any resistance, as opposed to the people that staged a protest in front of the building.

Very Dark Man had earlier said that the protesters had misplaced priorities because there are bigger issues in Nigeria to combat. He even raised a question as to how often the protesters eat Chinese food.

After he made the statement, Very Dark Man said he faced some backlash for ‘not being patriotic’, stating that from the onset, he had known that something was fishy about the protest.
