Liya leaves Davido’s record label, barely two years after signing
Nigerian singer and songwriter, Abdulsalam Suliyat Modasola a.k.a Liya who recently made headlines upon joining Davido Music Worldwide, DMW, Davido’s record label, has reportedly left the label.
In a question and answer session on her Instagram page, Liya revealed that she is no longer signed to DMW.
Liya, who Davido signed in October 2020, didn’t give details behind her exit but stressed that she remains a member of 30BG for life.
Liya’s signing was an important milestone as she became the first female artist to be signed by Davido to his label, earning her the title of “First Lady” of DMW.
In an interview with The Petite Talker, Liya disclosed that Davido signed her to his DMW record label after just 5 hours of their first meeting. According to her, she met him at the club through Peruzzi and after playing a couple of her songs for him, he was hooked and made the announcement on Twitter immediately.
