LP Crisis, Apapa Accused of operating against the Interest of Nigerians

Labor Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council spokesman Tanko Yinusa has charged Lamidi Apapa, the party’s factional leader, with operating against the wishes and interests of the Nigerian people.

He stated this during his appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily. The party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was not the reason Apapa was at the Tribunal on Wednesday, according to Yinusa. Apapa was there to stir up trouble.

“Let me just explain that what Mr Apapa is trying to do is to have a coup d’etat against the will and the interest of the Nigerian people especially that of the Labour party.”

“They did come to court, they were relegated to the agreement. If he is truly interested in emancipating the Nigerian people, he wouldn’t have come to court.

“That also shows you that they are not interested. They came intending to cause drama in court,” he added.

Meanwhile, Apapa who was also a guest on the show, asserted that anyone with proof should provide it and denied operating in Obi’s best interests or receiving funding from the All Progressives Congress (APC). He added that he did not collect N500 million to run Obi’s petition against the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

“I am not playing the script of the APC, it is not correct. I have said several times here that anybody who has evidence to prove that I have done this,” he said.

Earlier, Empired reported that some factions of Peter Obi’s Labour Party clashed in court, Apapa was mobbed by some youths that were at the court to witness proceedings in the petition that Obi filed to challenge the outcome of the presidential election held on February 25.

Security operatives attached to the Court of Appeal in Abuja took Apapa into protective custody. On how he was mobbed, Apapa said: “They pounced on me, removed my cap and I am very sure that if not that you people (journalists) were there, I would have been dead by now.”
