Naira Marley Offers to Sing the New National Anthem for UAR

A recent proposal was sent to the House of Representatives by Adeleye Jokotoye, a tax consultant, seeking a name change for Nigeria, for which United Africa Republic (UAR) was suggested.

While presenting the proposal, he said Nigeria’s current name was an imposition of its past colonial masters and should be changed. He said a change of name for the country would physically and psychologically reflect a new beginning.

As expected, Nigerians took to several platforms to react to the news and air their views on the proposed matter, of which Naira Marley is not an exemption.

However, the President of Marlins seemed more interested in making the most of the opportunity.

Naira has wasted no time in making his intentions of replacing Pa Benedict Odise who composed Nigerian’s second anthem in 1978 known, should the opportunity arise.

Being so smart, he figured that if a name change should occur, there’d definitely be an anthem change and he is offering to sing the proposed UAR Anthem. He made his intentions known via social media, tweeting “Omo Na me go sing the new national Anthem for UAR.”
