Rapper Emtee might end up homeless, as he fights over his assets amid divorce
South African rapper Mthembeni Ndevu popularly known as Emtee is on the verge of losing it all after he filed for a divorce from his wife Nicole Chinsamy, whom he made the sole owner of their assets.
In March, the father-of-two revealed to Zimoja that he is leaving his marriage and he is moving out of their home.
“I have not been home much to try and avoid conflict. She has been the one that has been abusive toward me for years. She hits me and then plays the victim”.
Emtee further said that he does not want to end up in the same situation as the late rapper Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi who was fatally stabbed by his girlfriend, Sindisiwe Manqele, in 2015.
Emtee filed for divorce in April – the same month he was attending his assault case which his wife later withdrew.
The couple share three children together, born in 2015, 2018, and their last child, whom Nicole gave birth to on May 4 this year. In the court papers, the mother-of-three reveals that they married in a community of property in 2019.
She stated that she wants the trust fund untouched until they finalize their divorce. In addition, the court interdict is to stop Emtee from taking loans against their assets, squandering their assets, depleting the bank account of Emtee Records or trust account, or selling shares in Africa Trap Movement.
“It is not clear from the notification what the reason for the transfer was, and to which bank account it was transferred.
“My apprehension is that it is a clear act of dissipation and an attempt at hiding funds from me by the first respondent, either acting alone or in concert with Dumisani [Emtee’s lawyer],” read the papers.
While Nicole says Emtee has shares, stakes, and/or assets in Emtee Rocords and African Trap Movement, she admits that she does not know the value. She, on the other hand, does not own any assets except a laptop, cellphone, jewelry, and clothing, which is estimated at R100 000.
